Kirk Citron and Matt Haligman founded Citron Haligman Bedecarré, the fastest growing advertising agency in the country for 1999 and 2000 according to Advertising Age. Adweek named us West Agency of the Year; Creativity magazine put us on a list of the most creative agencies in the country. But as the agency grew larger (reaching 550 employees in six offices) we realized we were losing touch with the work.
We changed the name of the company to AKQA, left, and started over again. In the past few years we’ve worked for clients like Robert Mondavi, Compaq, Mercedes-Benz, and Target. But for us, the most important thing is this: we’ve returned to doing the work ourselves.
Kirk is best known for the Saturn theme line, “A different kind of company. A different kind of car.” A Harvard graduate, he’s been inducted into the American Advertising Federation’s Hall of Achievement.
Matt was named the best print art director in the country by Adweek. He was top of his class at Art Center College of Design and his work has been featured in almost every international awards show.
